The Student Who Are Studying Our HoStel
We currently have eight children studying with us. Despite coming from different communities, they face a common challenge: they have been deprived of education due to their impoverished circumstances. Here is a brief overview of the students.
Sajan Gautam
Sajan Gautam is a 13-year-old boy studying in the 8th grade. He is from Khoramukh village, north of Pokhara. He is very discipline and sincere boy of the hostel. His hard working habit made him to secure good result in class. His have a dream to help others. He has an elder sister, and their parents are elderly and suffer from chronic illnesses, leaving them with no steady income. Their only source of income is from selling labor in the village. Consequently, they struggle significantly to provide food and cover school expenses for their him. Upon observing and evaluating their living conditions—including the food they eat, the beds they sleep in, the clothes they wear, the kitchen they cook in, the toilets they use, their bank account, jobs, and other income sources—we found their situation to be dire and pitiable.
Abikar Poudel
Aabiskar Poudel is an 11-year-old boy from Harpan, west of Pokhara, though he used to live in Pokhara with his mother and studying in class 3. He is a bit chatty boy of the hostel and good at game like chess or Baghchal. He has a younger brother. Their only source of income is occasional wage labor. Consequently, they face significant hardships in providing food and covering school expenses for the two sons. Upon observing and evaluating their living conditions, we found their situation to be awful and miserable.
Sakshyam Baral
Sakchyam Baral, a 10-year-old from Pumdi village west of Pokhara, studying in class 4. Sakshyam is one of intelligent child of the hostel having a dream to be entrepreneur and business man. He love to go skating and paly game as well. His father earns a meager income as a wage laborer in the village, which is unstable and insufficient compared to others. In the village, most families have land for cultivating various crops, ensuring food security. However, Sakchyam's parents do not own any land for farming. During our visit to Sakchyam's house, we assessed various indicators, which revealed their low economic status and challenging living conditions. It's evident that they are struggling to provide enough food for their children. Given these circumstances, it's difficult to envision Sakchyam and his sisters receiving a quality education. Therefore, we have chosen Sakchyam to be part of our hostel program, providing him with the opportunity to access quality education.
Anish Baniya
Anish Baniya is 13 years old boy studying in grade 4. He is from Pokhara. His father is disable and get a support from government. His mother is also slow mind and having no source of income. His family situation very piteous and they have been taking help from their relatives and neighbor. He dream to be biker and interested in art and drawing. His circumstance lead him to study in lower grade in his old age.
Sandesh Chapagain
Sandesh Chapagai is a 13-year-old boy in the 6th grade from Annapurna-7 Besi. He is a bit different from others as he has a quick temper. Despite trying very hard, he takes more time to study. He loves to sing rap and occasionally performs. His parents work on other people's land, generating very low income. He has one brother, and his mother is on medication for mental illness. This situation has nearly forced him out of school. Now, he wants to be write and sing songs.
Garima Chapagain
Garima Chapagain is an 8-year-old girl studying in the 3rd grade. She is the daughter of Liladevi Sharma, the caretaker of the hostel. Garima's mother is divorced and sought a job to support them, and we have been helping her. Garima is intelligent and passionate about dance.
Sajan sunar
Sajan Sunar is a 9-year-old boy studying in the 2nd grade. He is from a remote village in the Parbat district. Sajan is a calm, hardworking, and brave boy at our hostel. We enrolled him this year. He is unsure about what he wants to be in the future. His family consists of his father and grandmother. His father is fully disabled and unable to move, and his mother left him when he was young. His grandmother is elderly and unable to work. Their family situation is dire, and it's remarkable how they manage to survive. Sajan is studying hard, hoping for a better future for himself and his father.
Sanjaya BK
Sanjaya BK is a 9-year-old boy from a remote village in the Magdi district, currently studying in the 1st grade. He is quite weak academically, which is why we hesitated to promote him to the 2nd grade. He is still learning the alphabet and numbers. We believe that with time and support, he will succeed in his educational journey and become an inspiration to everyone. He used to live with his maternal grandparents along with his sister. His parents separated and remarried other people. Due to their dire circumstances, he had to work at other people's houses just for food. We aim to restore hope for him and provide a better future.
